Nowadays, beer drinkers still want to be able to enjoy a beer but also keep our health in mind. Along with becoming health conscious also comes a desire to find out precisely what is in our beer and its nutritional value. Luckily, we’ve dedicated this entire post to Bud Light varieties’ calories, nutrition facts, and ingredients. In a nutshell;

Bud Light original has 110 calories, Bud Light Platinum 139 calories, and Bud Light Next 80 calories per 12 fl. oz (355 ml). Additionally, the fruit-flavored varieties have the highest number of calories: Bud Light Peels ranges between 116 – 149 and Bud Light Chelada between 151-182 calories.

However, that certainly isn’t everything you need to know about the nutrition facts of these beers. Below, we’ll look into the calories and ingredients of these beers in more detail, as well as their amount of carbohydrates, fat, and protein. We’ll also compare them to other beers and each other, so you can make the best choice for you!

How Many Calories In Bud Light Original (4.2% ABV)

Bud Light has 110 calories in a 12 fl. oz (355ml) serving. This includes 6,6 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fat, and 1 gram of protein. A 16fl. Oz serving (473ml) has 150 calories and 9 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fat, and 1 gram of protein. Overall, this is much lower than its Budweiser counterpart, but this is to be expected of a light beer.

For their Bud Light original beer, Anheuser-Busch uses four ingredients: barley, rice, corn, and water. The company is the largest end-user of rice and hops for brewing worldwide and works with 700 farmers to create their products. They pride themselves on working with the local community to produce high-quality ingredients, which results in the fact that most ingredients used for Anheuser-Busch beers, including Bud Light, are sourced from local farmers in the US.

How Many Calories Compared To Other Light Beers?

To find the best choice, we must compare Bud Light to other light lagers on the American market. As said, Bud Light has 110 calories per 12 fl. oz serving, which ends up being higher than other light lagers, though the difference is only a small one.

It is interesting to note that Bud Light does not add glucose to its beer, whereas some competitors do. Heineken light, for example, is the lowest in calories and alcohol percentage (3.3%) but does have this added sugar.

Bud Light has instead chosen to add rice, which has the same form of sugar as glucose or corn syrup does. Besides, this sugar is only used to aid in fermentation and is eaten by the yeast to convert into alcohol. As a result, very little to none of it is left in the final product.

Still, you might feel like adding rice is the healthier option, which is precisely what Bud Light is hoping for. In fact, they went as far as creating a commercial shaming Miller Lite for using corn syrup.

The ad is unfortunately no longer available on YouTube, but you can see parts of it, as well as additional information about the corn syrup feud between Anheuser-Busch (Bud Light) and MillerCoors (Miller Lite), in this video:

How Many Calories In Bud Light Peels (4.2% ABV)?

Bud Light Peels offers the classic Bud Light but mixed with real fruits. There are three flavors: lime, orange, and lemonade. The result is a slightly sweeter beer with a fruity flavor that is also higher in calories. The sweeter flavor isn’t just caused by the fruit juice but also the added cane sugar. The ABV is the same as the original Bud Light though: 4.2%.

The three varieties have similar nutrition facts. The number of calories and carbs differ slightly, but they all still have 0g of fat. Bud Light Lime is the answer if you’re looking for the variety with the lowest calories and carbs.

Bud Light Peels Lime has 116 calories per 12 fl. oz, which includes 8 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fat, and 0.9 grams of protein.

Bud Light Peels Orange has 142 calories, 14.3 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fat, and 1 gram of protein per 12 fl. oz serving.

Lastly, Bud Light Peels Lemonade has the highest amount of calories and carbohydrates. Per 12 fl. oz serving, there are 149 calories, consisting of 16 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fat, and 1 gram of protein.

How Many Calories In Bud Light Chelada (4.2% ABV)?

Besides their Peels range, Bud Light also offers a different variety of Bud Light with additional fruit flavor. Bud Light Chelada is composed of the classic beer with Clamato, a tomato cocktail.

For this brand, there are four varieties, which all have the same ABV as their Peels counterparts: 4.2%. As Clamato does have added sugars, these are also added to this mix. The result is a higher amount of carbs than the Peels beers. If you want to enjoy these beers, but want the lowest calories and carbs option, go for Bud Light Chelada or Bud Light Chelada Mango. They have the same nutrition facts.

Both the Bud Light Chelada Original and Mango variety have 151 calories per 12 fl. oz serving, which includes 15.6 grams of carbs, 0 grams of fat, and 0.9 grams of protein.

The Chelada Extra Lima variety has slightly more calories than the Original and Mango version: 157 per 12 fl. oz serving. This consists of 17.3 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fat, and 1.6 grams of protein.

Lastly, there is a variety with higher calories and carbs; Bud Light Chelada Fuego. This beer is a collaboration with Tapatio, known for its hot sauce. As a result, this Bud Light Chelada variety is relatively spicy. Because of the added flavors, we also get higher nutrition value. This results in this version having  181 calories per 12 fl. oz serving, with 22.6 grams of carbs, 0 grams of fat, and 1.9 grams of protein.

How Many Calories In Bud Light Platinum (6% ABV)?

This version of Bud Light has a similar inoffensive flavor as regular Bud Light but with a higher ABV. At 6%, this beer is more potent than your traditional (light) beer. For reference, Budweiser is 5%, whereas regular Bud Light is measured at 4.2%.

With the extra alcohol and added cane sugar also come additional calories, but surprisingly fewer carbs than Bud Light. The facts per 12 fl. oz are as follows: 139 calories with 5.1 grams of carbs, 1 gram of fat, and 1 gram of protein.

Besides the standard Bud Light Premium, Bud Light also created a fruit-flavored version with an even higher alcohol percentage. Bud Light Platinum Selzer has an ABV of 8% and offers three varieties; Wild Berry, Citrus, and Blood Orange. They all have the same nutrition facts, so you can base your choice on which flavor you like most, as opposed to the number of calories. The facts per 12 fl. oz are as follows: 170 calories, with 3 grams of carbs, 0 grams of fat, and 0 grams of protein.

The higher amount of calories and sugar compared to Bud Light is likely the result of the higher ABV and the added agave syrup.

How Many Calories In Bud Light Next (4% ABV)?

Bud Light Next was launched recently, in 2022, for those who are looking for 0g carbs (and fat and protein) in their beer. Unsurprisingly, this beer also has the least calories (80 per 12 fl. oz) compared to regular Bud Light varieties.

Apart from the lack of carbs, this beer is also interesting as it has the lowest ABV of all previously mentioned beers. Bud Light Next has  4%, which is .2% less than Bud Light.

The ingredients are water, rice, malt, and natural flavors. They omitted the barley and hops usually associated with beer, making this beer almost like a seltzer. However, apart from the change in ingredients, Bud Light has not shared how they were able to remove the carbs from their beer.
